Premier Horticulture Sphagnum Peat Moss 2.2 cu ft

Peat moss is a natural conditioner that regulates moisture and air around plant roots for ideal growing conditions. A must for lawn & Garden.

How to Use: 

New Lawns & Lawn patches. Spread 2" of peat across the planting area add limestone to adjust the pH. Rototill or dig it into the top 6" of soil. After seeding, fertilizing and watering lightly, carefully spread a 1/2" top dressing. Moisten daily for 2-3 weeks.

Existing Lawns. Rake on a 1/4" to 1/2" top dressing across entire lawn.

New Flower Beds & Vegetables Gardens. Spread 2" of peat across the bed surface. Rototill or dig into top 6" of soil.

Existing Flower Beds & Vegetable Gardens. Spread 1" of peat across the bed surface. Rototill or dig into top 6" of soil. Take care when working into soils and around existing plants.

Bulb Beds. Spread 2" of peat across the bed. Work into the soil to the same depth the bulbs are to be planted.

Trees & Shrubs. Dig hole three times the width of the root ball and just as deep. Slope the sides of the hole outward to 45 degrees. Loosen bottom of hole with garden fork. Mix 1 part peat with 2 parts soils removed from the hole. Fill in around the root ball. Water and allow to settle . Level with remaining peat soil mix. Water twice a week for 3-4 weeks. 

Acidic-Soil Plants. For acidic soil plants (azaleas, rhododendrons roses, conifers, etc.), combine equal parts peat and soil in backfill mix.

Garden Compost. Combine equal parts peat moss and compost. Spread a 2" layer of the mixture across the garden bed and rototill or dig it into the top 6" of soil.

Compost Bins. Blend 1" of peat moss into every 4" of compostable garden material. Add a 2" peat "cap" to help control odor.
